PortalPrep Privacy Policy

The short version

PortalPrep does not collect, transmit, or store your photos, documents, or personal information on any server, because PortalPrep has no server for your content to go to. Everything the app does to your files happens on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means and the few narrow exceptions.

What stays on your device, always

When you use PortalPrep to resize, compress, or redact a photo or document, that file is processed entirely on your phone. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or sent to Sobur Fagbenro or anyone else. This includes:

• The photos and documents you import
• Any text PortalPrep detects on a document for the redaction feature
• The processed (output) file
• Your presets, custom presets, and settings
• A local history of past jobs (which preset you used and when — not the files themselves, unless you choose to keep them)

The one thing that does use the network

PortalPrep periodically checks a small, static file for updated preset numbers (for example, if a country changes its passport photo requirements). This check:

• Happens at most about once a month, or when you manually request it from Settings
• Sends no photo, document, detected text, or anything that identifies you — it is a plain request for a public data file
• Fails silently if you have no connection; the app keeps working from its last-known presets

Purchases

PortalPrep is sold as a one-time in-app purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play. PortalPrep does not process payments itself and does not receive your name, email, or payment details — that is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies:

Restoring a purchase on a new device uses Apple's or Google's own restore-purchase system, tied to your Apple ID or Google account. PortalPrep never asks you to create an account, and never collects your email or a password.

Children's privacy

PortalPrep does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information from anyone. The app is not directed at children specifically, but nothing about its data practices changes based on who is using it.

Data you keep and how to remove it

If you opt in to keeping processed output files in your history, those files live in the app's local storage on your device, excluded from iCloud and other automatic device backups. You can clear your history from Settings at any time. Deleting the app removes everything.

Redaction accuracy

The redaction feature identifies sequences that resemble Social Security numbers or account numbers and highlights them for your review before removing anything. It is pattern-matching, not a guarantee — it can miss sensitive information that doesn't match the patterns it looks for, and you should review the highlighted result yourself before sharing a document. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top will update, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
